A combination weighing system for table grapes
Bulltec, a Cesena-based company specialising in processing, sorting and packaging lines for fruit and vegetables, presents its latest project dedicated to table grapes: a new combination weighing system, designed and patented in-house, which is already receiving a great deal of positive feedback for its high production capacity. The company will be exhibiting at LUV from 20 to 22 October at stand H4, where it will showcase this new technology for processing table grapes.
The new system now makes it possible to achieve the output that would normally require two machines with a single combination weigher.
The first sale took place in July to Apofruit Italia, a long-standing Bulltec customer. A complete table grape processing line was installed at the Scanzano Jonico (Matera) plant, where all brands are processed, in particular Solarelli-branded grapes. The line is equipped with the latest combination weigher developed by the company.
"The concept behind the project is simple. The line retains the traditional processing configuration: operators prepare the individual underweight basket, which is then weighed by the combination weigher and topped up with the necessary bunches to reach the weight set by the recipe. The working method therefore remains unchanged - what changes is the addition of the combination weigher downstream of the line, to ensure productivity and efficiency in individual weighing operations," explained Ruggero Ricci, owner of Bulltec.
The combiner is fitted with dual portion discharge points - on the right and left - for tray completion, and 16 central weighing belts. These are loaded with individual bunches, which are continuously combined with the incoming baskets, ensuring precise weighing and high output. In terms of performance, the combination weigher operates at an average rate of 65–70 baskets per minute, with peaks of up to 90 baskets per minute. This enables a single machine to achieve the volumes for which other solutions would require two combination weighers.
