During the interaction, the Controller assured the delegation that their concerns would be addressed in a fair and effective manner, ensuring that the interests of both consumers and traders shall be duly protected. He further assured that the department would remain approachable and responsive in resolving genuine difficulties faced by the trading community.

The Controller asserted that consumer protection remains the core mandate of the department and emphasized that strict enforcement of laws will go hand in hand with trader facilitation.

Highlighting the proactive initiatives of the department, he mentioned ongoing awareness programs, verification camps, consumer sensitization drives, and a series of digital reforms introduced under the Ease of Doing Business framework. These reforms-such as online service delivery, minimal physical interface during verifications, online fee payment, and technology-driven monitoring-are aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability, and speedy redressal of grievances.

The Controller further underlined the importance of creating a cooperative framework where compliance is treated not as a burden but as a shared responsibility. He stressed that continuous engagement with stakeholders, coupled with extensive use of both print and electronic media, will remain central to enhancing public outreach and building mutual trust.

He also informed the delegation that the department has already prepared a calendar of trade-specific awareness and compliance camps to facilitate regular interaction with the business community and ensure timely resolution of issues. Reiterating the department’s commitment, he affirmed that every effort will be made to maintain a fair balance between safeguarding consumer rights and protecting the interests of the business sector.
