Consumer rights awareness campaign held at Hoshepu

An awareness programme on the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, was held at the EAC Office in Hoshepu village under Zunheboto district on June 7. The event was jointly organised by the Zunheboto District Legal Services Authority (ZDLSA) under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA), in collaboration with the Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection (LMCP), Zunheboto.

Delivering the keynote address, Phuleto Yeptho, NJS, District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of ZDLSA, underscored the importance of consumer rights and legal recourse mechanisms available under the law.


Easter H. Yepthomi, Retainer Lawyer with ZDLSA, provided an overview of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, highlighting its key provisions and protections for consumers. Assistant Controller of LMCP, Zunheboto, Khevishe Z. Zhimomi, elaborated on the Legal Metrology Act and the enforcement rules under the Nagaland Legal Metrology framework.


A short address was also delivered by K. Khushito Awomi, retired AIG Prisons and Chairman of the Hoshepu Area Public Organisation, who appreciated the efforts to educate grassroots leaders on legal safeguards.


The programme was attended by village council members, GBs, representatives from the Hoshepu Range Public Organisation (HRPO), and local church leaders.
