Heavy-duty weighbridge inaugurated at APMC
Channaraj Hattiholi, MLC, inaugurated a heavy-duty electronic weighbridge in the APMC sub-market in Hirebagewadi village in Belagavi district on Monday.
He said the 80-tonne capacity weighbridge was among the largest in the Belagavi Rural constituency and would help farmers accurately weigh their produce and receive remunerative prices.
“Accurate weighing and smooth market transactions are crucial for farmers bringing their produce to the market. The installation of the new weighbridge at the APMC will help innumerable agriculture and horticulture farmers in surrounding areas,” he said. “It will also save time for farmers taking their produce to wholesale traders,” he added.
He said efforts were under way to develop all the necessary infrastructure for the farmers in a phased manner. The heavy-duty facility would ensure accurate weighing of large vehicles, including tractors and lorries, at a single location. It would help prevent confusion regarding weight during market transactions, he said.
