Legal Metrology raids e-commerce platforms

Officials from the Legal Metrology department carried out raids on e- commerce platforms at different locations in Salcete on Tuesday.

In the first raid, the team seized food packets from an office as the items did not meet Legal Metrology standards. A second raid took place later in the evening at another e-commerce platform, where more packets were seized for similar violations.

The total value of the seized goods is estimated to be around Rs 3 lakh. A Legal Metrology official advised people to be careful while ordering products online.

He said customers should always check if the packaging mentions the name of the manufacturer or the country of origin, especially if the product is imported.
