Minebea Intec, a global leader in industrial weighing and inspection technologies, has announced a significant seven-figure investment in its Hamburg production facility. The strategic move to install a new, fully automated 2-tonne dead load testing machine and a new turning center is designed to substantially increase production capacity, optimize lead times, and meet the rapidly growing global demand for its high-precision load cells.

From storage tanks and silos to batching vessels and reactors, Minebea Intec’s weighing solutions are critical to precise, continuous, and efficient dosing and filling processes across numerous industries. This investment ensures the company can continue to provide its customers with the flexible and durable equipment they need to minimise material loss and optimise resource management.
"Our weighing solutions guarantee precise, continuous, fast, and flexible processes that are essential in today’s industrial landscape," said Yannick Salzmann, Global Product Manager at Minebea Intec. "As topics like resource efficiency become increasingly critical, forward-looking weighing technologies are in high demand worldwide."
The company’s product range caters to diverse needs, from entry-level options like the Pancake load cell® to premium, hygienic solutions like the Novego® weighing module, which is experiencing particularly strong market demand from the food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and plastics industries.
Elevating Quality and Efficiency with a State-of-the-Art Dead Load Machine
The cornerstone of this investment is the new 2-tonne dead load machine, a critical piece of equipment for ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and compliance. This system allows Minebea Intec to calibrate load cells to the strict requirements of OIML R60 across the entire specified temperature range.
"The new system ensures all our load cells are measured to comply with OIML standards, guaranteeing unparalleled precision for our customers," explained Dr. Olaf Krusemark, Head of Industrial Engineering at Minebea Intec.
Beyond meeting rigorous quality standards, the machine’s key advantages are its automation and efficiency. It features an innovative load cell magazine that holds 32 units, enabling fully automated, multi-hour testing cycles with minimal operator intervention. This automation significantly boosts overall output.
"With this machine, we reduce the load on our other production systems, thereby producing more load cells overall and shortening our delivery times," Dr. Krusemark added. "It is a promise that every load cell leaving our factory meets the highest requirements for precision and reliability."
Expanding Capabilities with a New Turning Centre
Complementing the dead load machine is the investment in a new turning centre. This advanced machinery plays a vital role in the initial machining phases of load cell production, creating the complex shapes and highly precise surfaces required for these sensitive components.
"By using this turning centre, we can further increase our productivity and simultaneously ensure the consistent quality of our load cells from the very first production step," said Dr. Krusemark.
A Commitment to Customer Partnership and Innovation
Minebea Intec positions itself as more than just a equipment supplier, but as a competent partner throughout the entire planning, installation, and maintenance process.
"These investments are an important step in consolidating our position as a leading provider," said Dr. Karl Sommer, CEO & COO of Minebea Intec. "By modernising our production facilities, we are not only meeting growing demand but also strengthening our long-term commitment to customer satisfaction, competitiveness, and innovation in the weighing technology sector."
