Rice Lake Weighing Systems has unveiled an advanced User String Feature for its 682 indicator, empowering operators with greater flexibility and control through enhanced customization options.

This innovative update allows users to personalize the softkeys, display text, and prompts, streamlining workflow and improving operational efficiency. The feature enables the creation of custom labels such as Lot #, Batch #, Employee ID, Product, SKU, or Bar Code Number, allowing seamless data entry and tracking in diverse industrial applications.
Operators can also program display prompts—for instance, “Enter Lot #”—and use placeholders like {} to insert user-entered data. The feature supports combining static messages with dynamic inputs, such as “Batch number:{},” to guide operators clearly during use.
One of the key highlights is the ability to update user strings directly from a computer, making it possible for supervisors to send real-time instructions or alerts to the indicator—such as “Proceed to Silo 3.” This enhances communication and responsiveness in fast-paced production environments.
In addition, the user string data can be configured for temporary or permanent display, saved within a <US1> print token variable, and easily integrated into print formats or accessed via serial commands.
According to Rice Lake Weighing Systems, the new User String Feature is designed to deliver ease of use, adaptability, and precision—hallmarks of the company’s long-standing commitment to quality and innovation in weighing technology.
