Kardex’s commitment to innovations for the AutoStore™ automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) has seen the company unveil its new PortScale precision weighing solution in Southeast Asia as part of a new SmartWorkStation.

Singapore – Kardex, the most innovative AutoStore partner, has unveiled its new SmartWorkStation, combining its Intuitive Picking Assistant (IPA) with the new PortScale precision weighing solution. Designed to help businesses improve picking accuracy, reduce errors and increase operational efficiency, the SmartWorkStation demonstrates Kardex’s commitment to enhancing the performance, scalability and reliability of warehouse operations for customers across Southeast Asia.

Launching its latest proprietary innovation for the ultra-high-density ASRS, Kardex has also marked five years as a global AutoStore integrator. PortScale enhances the AutoStore ecosystem by bringing high precision, real-time weight-based process automation to AutoStore ports. Kardex’s five-year partnership with AutoStore has seen the company develop a range of tailored solutions that help customers improve throughput, accuracy and operational performance; from intelligent software and automated cleaning, to AI-powered bin induction and a guided picking system.

PortScale instantly detects picking errors and accelerates throughput

Amid growing pressure on businesses in Singapore to meet rising customer expectations, address labour shortages and increase order volumes, it’s more important than ever to optimise warehouse operations. Ideally suited to high-throughput warehouses, PortScale integrates precise weight measurement directly into the AutoStore port, instantly detecting picking errors. By automating essential verification processes, it helps businesses increase confidence in every order, while reducing manual intervention. PortScale is designed specifically for AutoStore ports and employs multiple weight sensors integrated into the port shelf to enable real-time bin weighing and automated item-count verification with the Kardex ScaleManager.

Picking errors can significantly affect operational performance and brand reputation. Kardex’s PortScale integration workstation combines technologies including the Kardex Intuitive Picking Assistant (IPA), barcode scanning, computer vision, data capture for track & trace, and weight-based verification to deliver accurate and efficient replenishment and picking. Continuously measuring bin weight ensures picking errors are detected instantly to maintain accurate inventory data, cut shrinkage rates and reduce the need for manual counting, allowing warehouse teams to focus on higher-value tasks, while maintaining consistently high fulfilment quality.

Kardex: 5 years, continuous innovation, 150+ global AutoStore deployments

Kardex has achieved five years of innovation with AutoStore, during which time it has carried out more than 150 deployments of the ultra-high-density ASRS around the world, expanded its operation from one employee in 2021 to 250 employees today, and regularly introduced new proprietary innovations to enhance the AutoStore ecosystem. Each innovation has been developed in response to real operational challenges faced by customers, helping businesses improve productivity, accuracy and long-term operational resilience. Designed to help customers improve productivity, accuracy and operational efficiency, Kardex’s AutoStore innovations range from intelligent software, such as its FulfillX warehouse execution system (WES), and automated cleaning to increase uptime, to AI-powered bin induction with BinInductAI and the IPA guided picking system to improve order fulfilment and inventory accuracy.

Kardex is committed to working closely and collaborating with customers at every stage of their AutoStore journey by combining global expertise with local engineering and service teams. The company helps customers maximise the value of their investment at every stage and has created the affordable, hassle-free AutoStore StarterGrid solution, available exclusively from Kardex and offering lower cost, fast implementation of AutoStore without customisation in the Asia Pacific region.
