The newly constructed weights and measures office building in Shantirbazar, built at a cost of Rs 48 lakh 25 thousand under the state government's development program, was inaugurated on Saturday by Tripura food, civil supplies and consumer affairs Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Minister of Cooperation, Sukla Charan Noatia, MLA, Pramod Reang, Food and Civil Supplies Department Secretary, Rebel Hemant Kumar, South Tripura District Magistrate, Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, Shantirbazar Subdivisional Magistrate, Abhedananda Baidya, Shantirbazar Municipality Chairman, Swapna Baidya, Vice Chairman, Satyabrata Saha and others.
The new building, which has an office room, laboratory, and kitchen room, is located near the Shantirbazar sub divisional magistrate's office. The construction of the new office room was completed beautifully under the tireless efforts of Tapas Marak, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department, and Prabir Baran Das, SDO.
Speaking at the function, Chowdhury highlighted the various development programs of the state government. He also gave detailed information about the work done by the newly constructed Weights and Measures Department.
Minister Chowdhury also said that people can come to this office and lodge complaints if they find any discrepancy in the weight of the goods they buy from the market. The minister said that the department conducts raids regularly in various places in the state.
